The North Oconee Titans flexed their muscles in Commerce Friday night, handing Commerce a 42-0 loss.
It was the first shutout for Commerce since Sept. of 2008.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Titans made their first trip into Commerce’s end zone just 45 seconds into the second quarter.
North Oconee would seize another opportunity with just under five minutes left in the half, when the Titans blocked a Tiger punt, the recovered the ball to take over on Commerce’s 14-yard line. A little over a minute later, The Titans broke back into Commerce’s end zone to take a 14-0 lead.
North Oconee would add a third touch down with less than a minute on the clock to carry a 21-0 lead into the half.
Another Commerce fumble with just 1:10 left in the third quarter again opened the door for the Titans. It would take them just five seconds in the fourth quarter to score again, taking a 28-0 lead.
The Titans would score twice more before the final buzzer to take the 42-0 win.
The Tigers will be on the road next week, traveling to Washington-Wilkes, who will be coming off of a bye week after going 0-2 to start their season.
