The Jefferson High School volleyball team moved to 17-5 and remained unbeaten in the sub-area at 6-0 with a pair of victories at East Jackson Tuesday.
The Dragons beat East Hall 25-11, 25-5 in the first pairing and downed the host Eagles 25-11, 25-16 in the nightcap.
Leading Jefferson against East Hall were Amanda Daniel (two aces, one kill and nine assists), Taylor Cramsey (12 aces, four kills), Eden Starnes (four aces, four kills), Sarah Wood (two aces, four kills) and Savanna Holland (three kills).
Against East Jackson, the Dragons were sparked Cassie Metcalf (two aces, two kills), Amanda Daniel (three aces, two kills, 17 assists), Taylor Cramsey (nine aces, seven kills), Eden Starnes (seven kills), Sarah Wood (four aces, one kill), and Savanna Holland (two kills).
Five days earlier, Jefferson moved to 15-5 after splitting a pair of marathon matches in Oakwood, losing to Buford and beating West Hall.
The Dragons fell to Buford 25-22, 22-25, 25-22 in the first match.
“We played volleyball the way it is supposed to be played,” coach Mike Paul said. “I was very proud of our team although we came up just short.”
Taylor Cramsey led Jefferson with 12 kills, followed by Cassie Metcalf (eight), Eden Starnes (six), Savanna Holland (four), Amanda Daniel (two) and Sarah Wood (two). Daniel had 22 assists.
In the second match against West Hall, Jefferson rallied from a 25-16 loss in game one to take the final two games 25-18, 25-22.
“I felt our conditioning paid off in the end,” Paul said. “Everyone was tired but we managed to find a little extra.”
Leaders against West Hall were Metcalf (three aces, seven kills), Daniel (five kills, 28 assists), Cramsey (11 kills, two blocks), Starnes (five kills) and Wood (10 kills, two assists).
