MCHS runners start with 2nd place finish

A strong opener is about all that can be asked for, and the Madison County cross country team delivered that on Tuesday as the team hosted East Jackson and Hart County.

The Madison County boys were led by the Brakrage twins to a second place victory. Corey crossed the line first, followed in a few seconds by Codey.

Hart County took first place, with runners finishing first, third, fourth, seventh, ninth and tenth.

East Jackson placed runners in sixth and eighth position.

“All-in-all, I was proud of all of my runners,” said coach Allyson Terrell. “Taking a second and third spot of the 40 boys running in the meet our boys beat East Jackson by 24 points.”

For the girls, Madison County’s Elise Coberly was the lone runner and crossed the line for eighth place.

Hart County took first with runners in first, third, fourth, sixth and ninth position. East Jackson took second place overall with runners at second, fifth, seventh and tenth.

Coming up for the Madison County cross country team is the Northeast Georgia Championships at Athens Christian this Saturday.
