The Jefferson Sea Dragons swam their way to runners-up honors over the weekend at the North Georgia League championships.
That’s up one spot from last year’s third-place finish and three places over a fifth-place finish in 2008.
The event was split between the Habersham County and Gainesville.
The first session was held Friday at the Habersham County pool, while the second and third session took place at the Francis Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville Saturday.
Four Sea Dragons earned high-point trophies at the event, led by C.J. Guzman, who earned the first-place high-point trophy in the 10-and-under boys’ division. Meanwhile, Alyssa Bartloetta (6-and-under girls), Haley Bartoletta (10-and-under girls) and Bree Hanson (12-and-under girls) earned third-place trophies.
The Sea Dragons also swam Monday at Bishop Park in their last dual meet.
Next up is state, and Jefferson is taking a crowd.
Forty-four Sea Dragons will go to Tifton Friday to compete in the State Tournament, with all 10-and-under swimmers competing Friday and the older swimmers on Saturday.
