For the 15th year, Commerce High School will host the Northeast Georgia Offensive Camp July 20-22.
Commerce head football coach and athletic director Steve Savage said he anticipates around 230 players coming to town to take part in the camp, which runs from around 9 a.m. each morning to 2:30 p.m.
Players from Commerce, St. Pius, Hart, Stephens, Harbersham and Rabun counties are expected to be among those who take part in the camp, which has seen as many as 460 players in the past.
Offensive Camp Slated For Next Week
“It’s something that’s been good for us and it’s been good for the other schools that have attended,” Savage said.
Savage said the scope of the camp has changed a little over the years.
“It’s mostly an option and play-action pass, three-step pass camp,” he said. “It’s built around what most of those schools do. That’s what we’ve gone to this year and last year. Before, it was a little different, but we’ve kind of narrowed the scope last year and this year.”
For Commerce players, it will be the last camp prior to the official start of football practice with pads and helmets on Monday, Aug. 2.
