CHS Football Schedule Set For 2010

That will be followed by a trip to Franklin County on Sept. 3 followed by non-region games against two teams Commerce has not faced in recent years. The Tigers will host North Oconee on Sept. 10.

Commerce last faced the Titans in 2005, winning 52-7. Their other previous meeting was in 2004, when the Tigers won 55-21.

Last year, North Oconee went 8-4 overall and 6-3 in its region.

The final non-region game will be held on Sept. 17, as the Tigers travel to Washington-Wilkes. The Tigers will open region play Oct. 1 with Athens Academy, followed by games with Riverside Military Academy (Oct. 8), Athens Academy (Oct. 15), Athens Academy (Oct. 22). George Walton Academy ((Oct. 29), and Social Circle (Nov. 5).

“We had to find somebody to play in those first four games,” said Commerce head football coach Steve Savage. “It came down to North Oconee and Washington Wilkes, who both had an opening and were willing to play.”

With their strong record from last year, Savage said North Oconee should prove to be a good game, as should the pairing with Washington-Wilkes.

“Washington-Wilkes has got a real good quarterback and a good tailback too,” he said.
