All Stars begin district tournaments

As June rolls into July and the mercury continues to rise, the Madison County All Star tournaments are also heating up.

The 7-8 year old softball team began their series last month, but were knocked out on June 23 as they faced a tough Toccoa team, falling 11-14. The girls represented Madison County in a superior way, Little League team organizers said, adding that throughout the tournament the team played well.

This weekend, the Minor League baseball team begins their tournament in Habersham County. The 9-10 Madison County boys will take on the Habersham American League All Stars at 4:30 p.m. At press time, the brackets for the tournament were unavailable.

The 9-10 girls also begin their Minor League All Star tournament on Saturday. The girls play at Toccoa with the first game starting at 1 p.m. against Hart County. The winner moves on to face Franklin County at 6 p.m. on Monday, while the loser faces the weakest of Rabun County against Toccoa. The loser bracket plays at 8 p.m. also on July 5.

Heading to Hart County next week, July 10, the 11-12 Little League All Star boys will take on Habersham County at 6 p.m. The boys will play next on Monday, July 12, against Rabun County at 6 p.m. The semi-finals for the tournament will be on July 15.

The 11-12 softball team begin their tournament on July 5 in Toccoa. Taking on Franklin County on Monday, the Madison County All Star girls play at 6 p.m. followed on Tuesday, July 6, against Hart County at 8 p.m. The semi-finals will be held July 8.

Madison County’s junior league All Star team of 13-14 year old boys begin tournament play on Saturday in Hart County. facing off against Habersham at 5 p.m., the winner advances to play Franklin County at 6 p.m. on July 5. The loser will face either Hart County or Toccoa, Monday night at 8:30 p.m.

Looking at the Madison County senior league softball team, the 15-16 year old girls begin tournament play on July 7, at Toccoa where they will face Hart County. Game time is set for 8 p.m. The winner advances to play on Friday, July 9, at 6 p.m. against either Rabun or Toccoa.

The senior league 15-16 boys start play in the district tournament on July 8. Facing either Hart or Toccoa at Hart County, the Madison County boys will play at 8:30 p.m. Further tournament brackets were unavailable at press time.

The Madison County Little League organizers are asking that if anybody has information about the games or photos from any of the tournaments to email them to mcll@madisoncountylittleleague.com so the information can be posted onto the Little League website at www.madisoncountylittleleague.com.
