Lady Eagles Volleyball Set For Area Play Saturday

The East Jackson Lady Eagles volleyball team continues to work towards its season opener.

According to coach Tim Thomas, cuts were made last week, and the team has been working since then to prepare for Saturday’s area play date at East Jackson.

The Lady Eagles will face Greene County at 9 a.m., Athens Academy at 11 a.m., Lakeview at 1 p.m. and Tallulah Falls at 4 p.m.



The team traveled to be Jackson County Tuesday for a scrimmage. Jackson County won all four games.

While the Lady Panthers won the second and third matches handily, East Jackson gave them a run for their money in the bookend matches.

"They were much improved over last year," East Jackson coach Tim Thomas said. "Given what they had coming back, I'd expected them to be good, but they surpassed my
expectations. That speaks well of what Coach Colley has done with them."

Thomas says his team has 11 varsity players and 12 on JV, but that they will probably dress 16 varsity players on Saturday.

The season opener for the Lady Eagles is scheduled for Aug. 25, as East Jackson will host Rabun County at 5 p.m. and Clarke Central at 7 p.m.
