The Winder-Barrow High School baseball team was well represented on the 2010 All-Region baseball team.
Clint Spratlin, Dylan Ivey, Taylor Hinshaw, Taylor Keinat and Max Pentecost were each named first team All-Region while Kevin Wolf and Trace McDaniel were named second team.
Spratlin was first team 8-AAAA pitcher while Hinshaw was first team at first base. Pentecost was the Hitter of the Year while Kenait was also a first team pitcher. Ivey was named first team infielder.
Wolf was second team at second base while McDaniel was second team outfield.
The Diamond Dogg players also earned other postseason honors as McDaniel, who was a senior in 2010, was selected to the Georgia Senior Team as was Spratlin and Hinshaw. The trio competed in a four-day tournament held in Kennesaw and Rome.
Hinshaw was 5-for-10 with a homerun, two doubles and three singles. McDaniel played in the outfield and also saw time on the pitcher’s mound. Spratlin pitched in two games and did not allow a run.
Pentecost was named to the Team Georgia squad which is playing in Oklahoma. In recent action, Pentecost went 3-for-5 with two doubles for Team Georgia.
In addition to the standouts for WBHS and coach Brian Smith, Apalachee High School’s Joey Webb was named All-Region second team as an outfielder for coach Mike Cavey.
The honors were announced last week.
