Area athletes will have the opportunity later this week to learn about scholarship opportunities from a former Georgia football standout.
Joe Burns, former player for the Buffalo Bills, will speak Friday at 6 p.m. at East Jackson Comprehensive High School on scholarship opportunities available through the National Collegiate Scouting Association.
Burns was part of the Thomas County Central High School team that earned three state titles in four years, and was twice named as the Georgia Player of the Year. He moved on to Georgia Tech, where he became an All-ACC running back in his junior year, and would go on to become the fourth leading rusher in Tech’s history. After college Burns played for Buffalo for four years.
