Summer may be almost here, but the Commerce Tiger football team is already thinking about the fall.
Last week, coach Steve Savage and staff started spring practice, and Savage reports that the afternoon sessions are progressing well.
“You always worry about attitude and what the chemistry of the team is going to be like, and right now our attitude is very good,” he said. “For the first week of practice I though we had a good few days of practice.”

CHS Starts Spring Football Practice
The spring practice session is not only for the players, but the staff as well, allowing the coaches the opportunity to develop a strategy that matches the team’s personnel.
All winter, Savage has been designing offensive and defensive schemes and now he has a chance to take a look at them in action.
“We been tinkering with different combinations in the offensive line and we are making some progress there, and of course we graduated all of our backfield and are looking at some kids there that are doing pretty good,” Savage said.
This week, several of the boys who just finished their track season will be on the practice field, allowing Savage a chance see where they best fit.
