Runner-up finishes in Region 8-AAAA for both the boys’ and girls’ Madison County High School teams certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
Thirteen MCHS tennis players were recently chosen for the all Region-8-AAAA team by the region’s coaches, with five being named to the first team.
Grabbing first-team honors were Jeannie Bowen (18-2) for girls’ singles, Kaitlyn Hale (12-8) and Abby Morgan (16-4) for girls’ doubles and Jake Scarborough (15-5) and Chris Dove for boys’ doubles.
Second-team selections were Sam LaZear (11-2) for girls’ singles, Trey Morris (14-5) for boys’ singles and Connor Hancock (17-3) and Josh Dooley (16-4) for boys’ doubles.
All-region honorable mentions were Jeffrey Branson (12-8) and Blaise Boleman (14-2) for boys’ singles and Alexia Supakorndej (15-2) and KayLee Bates (15-2) for girls’ doubles.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams won the Region 8-AAAA North subregion before finishing second in the Region 8-AAAA tournament. Both squads qualified for state and advanced to the Sweet 16.
