After being delayed two days by wet weather, the Jefferson Lady Dragons came away from last week’s 8-AA region meet at East Jackson with a second place result, and with several girls qualifying for state competition.
The Lady Dragons scored 101.5 points, second only to North Oconee’s 228. Rabun County, Dawson County, East Jackson, Oglethorpe County, Walnut Grove, Fannin County and Banks County rounded out the field.
Among those qualifying for state was Kasey McDonald, who took second in the shot put and second in the discus. Daniella Watson took second in the high jump. Holly Baron took second in the 200-meters to qualify for state.
