Jefferson takes first in tri-meet

The Jefferson boys track team came out on top of a tri-meet Tuesday with Jackson County and Commerce.

The Dragons scored 84.5 points to Jackson County’s 53 and Commerce’s 31.5.

Event winners in the meet include Josh Kles in the shot put and discus, Derrick Perkins in the triple jump and 300-meter hurdles, Tyler Porter in the pole vault and Noah McCarthy in the high jump.

Several other athletes recorded personal or season best performances in the meet including Shaquille Maxey in the triple jump, Tyler Porter in the long jump, Noah McCarthy in the long jump and Matt Deremer in the 1600-meters and 3200-meters.

Up next for the boys is their region meet, to be held at Jefferson Saturday and Monday.
