Diamond Tigers Look For Final Win Over AC Eagles

There is only one regular season baseball game left for the Commerce diamond Tigers. Coach Steve Cotrell’s Tigers will face Athens Christian Friday on the road.

The final game of the regular season follows Tuesday night’s home closer against Social Circle.

While results were unavailable at press time, a win over Social Circle would secure for Commerce the number three seed for the postseason.

With Friday’s game against Athens Christian still ahead, coach Cotrell wants to win out.

“We are sitting third right now. If we win Tuesday, we are in officially and mathematically,” Cotrell said.

He also added that there is a chance that Commerce could move into second if Hebron defeats Lakeview and Athens Academy, and if Athens Academy loses to Prince Avenue.

“My guess is that we will finish third if we win out,” said Cotrell.

The Tigers will head to Athens Christian Friday for a 5:30 p.m. game. The Eagles are 10-9 while the Tigers are 10-12 (10-4 in the region).
