The Jefferson track teams came away from Saturday’s Jefferson Relays with strong performances to carry them into the latter half of the season.
For the boys, it was a victory, scoring 134 points to outdistance second place Decatur and third place Athens Academy, while Commerce, Oglethorpe East Jackson and Galloway rounded out the field.
For the girls, it was a second place effort, scoring 106 points to overall winner Decatur’s 129. Athens Academy, Oglethorpe, Commerce, East Jackson and Galloway rounded out the field.
Individually, for the boys, Tyler Porter took first in the pole vault and placed fifth in the long jump. Derrick Perkins took first in the triple jump, first in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the 110-hurdles.
Noah McCarthy took first in the high jump. Sky Porter took second in the long jump and second in the triple jump. Josh Kles placed second in the shot put and second in discus. Dre’qunn Sewell took third in the high jump and eighth in the 100-meters. Chris Jackson placed seventh in the 100-meters.
The team of Michael Stephenson, Jake Sherman, Alec Jameson and Jake Marlowe placed second in the 4x800. The team of Sky Porter, Derrick Perkins, Tyler Porter and Dre’qunn Sewell took second in the 4x400. The team of Noah McCarthy, Shaquille Maxey, Josh Watkins and Michael Stephenson took third in the 1600-sprint medley. The team of Derrick Perkins, Dre’qunn Sewell, Chris Jackson and Sky Porter took fourth in the 4x100. The team of Alec Jameson, Will Puckett, Matthew Deremer and Michael Stephenson placed fifth in the distance medley.
Individually, for the girls, Iniki Allen placed first in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles. Daniella Watson placed second in the high jump. Kasey McDonald placed second in the discus and third in the shot put. Rebecca Stoudenmire placed fourth in the pole vault and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Rana Davis placed fourth in the shot put. Abby Mason placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. Macy Ann Holland placed sixth in the discus. Eden Starnes placed sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump. Regina Watkins placed eighth in the 100-meters.
The team of Lauren Phillips, Holly Baron, Erin Knight and Lauren Taronji placed second in the distance medley. The team of Eden Starnes, Holly Baron, Regina Watkins and Erin Knight placed second in the 1600 sprint medley. The team of Lauren Phillips, Laura Price, Lauren Taronji and Erin Knight placed second in the 4x800. The team of Laura Price, Tatiana Gonzales, Regina Watkins and Savanna Holland placed third in the 4x200. The team of Holly Baron, Eden Starnes, Lauren Taronji and Laura Price placed fifth in the 4x400.
