5-2 Tigers Set For On The Road Action

Chalk two more wins up for the Commerce Tigers and a complete, 16-strikeout game for pitcher Carl Allen.

The diamond Tigers were on a roll last week, picking up wins over Tallulah Falls and Social Circle. Allen’s big game on Friday, against Social Circle, allowed Commerce to add its third win in four games over the Redskins.

Commerce began this week 5-9 — 5-2 in region play. The Tigers hosted Athens Christian in their first meeting of the season on Tuesday. Results from the game were unavailable at press time.

Commerce will take on Prince Avenue on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Bogart. Prince Avenue is winless in region play and Commerce has won the past four match-ups, including three wins by 10 runs or better.

The diamond Tigers will stay on the road for a Friday night game at Athens Academy. The Spartans look to extend a five-game win streak in their 11-4 season — and to avenge a 6-5 loss to the Tigers in March.

Currently, Commerce is ranked third and Athens Academy fourth in 8-A. Hebron and Lakeview, respectively, hold the top two spots.

Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. at Athens Academy.
