Boggs shoots 84 in Saturday tourney
Boggs shoots 84 in Saturday tourney
Thursday, April 1. 2010
Madison County High School’s no. 1 girls’ golfer, Cortney Boggs, closed March on a strong note, shooting an 84 Saturday at the GACA Georgia Peach tournament and finishing in the top 10.
“She had a great tournament,” coach Doug Kesler said.
Boggs and Kelsey Hochstetler were the only Lady Raiders to take part in the 18-hole event at Hard Labor Creek.
Hochstetler finished with a 102.
The Madison County High School girls’ golf team lost its first match of the season Monday, but it came to a juggernaut in the state female golf ranks.
The Lady Raiders were downed 70-100 by two-time defending Class AAA state champion Franklin County at Highland Walk Golf Course.
“They’ve won state two years in a row and should probably win it again,” Kesler said.
Boggs shot a 49 and Hochstetler carded a 51 on a course that Kesler called “not golfer-friendly.”
The Madison County girls’ most recent win came last Wednesday (March 24) against East Jackson, 90-126, at Double Oaks Golf Course.
