Eagles Take Top Honors At Jefferson

Also, Terry Miller placed second in the 800-meters, Dylan Kemp finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles. T.C. Collins took second in the high jump, Nick Fulks second in the discus, and Cale Pirtle placed third in the 800-meters and second in the 1600-meters.

The girls’ team, meanwhile, came home with a third-place effort. They scored 33 points to Jefferson’s 74 and Oglethorpe’s 62.
Courtney McDowell won in the 1600-meters and Jessie Harper in the high jump, while Brooklyn Watkins won the pole vault. The 4x100 team placed second.

Up next was a trip to Habersham Central for the Raider Relays Saturday.

The boys came away with a fourth-place finish with 35 points. They trailed Gainesville with 107, Habersham Central, 94 and Cedar Shoals, 79. The Eagles bested Stephens County, Rabun County, Tallulah Falls and Rabun Gap Nacoochee.

For the girls, the Lady Eagles placed fifth with 20 points. Gainesville won with 116, followed by Habersham Central, 113, Cedar Shoals, 71.5, and Stephens County, 21. The Lady Eagles beat Rabun County, Tallulah Falls and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee.

East Jackson was slated to host Oglethorpe, Riverside and Rabun County on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.

After next week’s spring break, East Jackson will resume its season with a trip to JHS for the Jefferson Relays on April 10.
