Banks County diamond Leopards slipped a little last week as the baseball team dropped two games, but coach Joe Lord thinks it was due to the lack of practice because of recent rains.
“We were not very sharp at times in the field, and we need to get that cleaned up,” said Lord. “With all the rain, we haven't been able to practice on the field in over a week.”
The Leopards turned it around Friday, as Banks picked up a win over Dawson in the second game of a doubleheader.
Leopard pitcher, Seth McEntire, pitched a complete seven innings last week against Dawson in a 4-1 win.
Leopards host Rabun Fri.
This week, Banks County hosted North Oconee on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time from Tuesday’s game.
Up next for the diamond Leopards is a home doubleheader against Rabun County.
The Rabun Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday night in a 5-4 battle with Union. Rabun County is 5-1 overall and 3-1 in region play, with wins over Oglethorpe and Fannin.
With the games looking close on paper, the Leopards will have to take advantage wherever they can to add the wins.
Game one of the doubleheader is set for 5 p.m. on Friday in Homer.
