Jefferson to face East Jackson Thursday

It was a mixed bag this past week for the Jefferson soccer teams.

On Friday, the teams traveled to Oglethorpe County to face the Patriots and the Lady Patriots.

For the girls, the trip resulted in the team’s first win of the season, as they defeated the Lady Patriots 2-0.

Carolyn Carreno and Camilia Hernandez scored in the last ten minutes of play to give Jefferson the victory.

“It was the best game we have played so far and I am very proud of them,” said coach Shannon Dupree.

It wasn’t as good an outing for the boys, as they fell 3-0 to the Patriots.

Next up was a trip on Tuesday to take on Hebron Christian. For the boys, it was another dissapointment, as they lost 5-2.

It was the same for the girls, as they fell 4-1.

Up next, Jefferson will make up matches with East Jackson at JHS on Thursday that were originally scheduled for March 12. Those matches had been postponed due to inclement weather. The girls’ match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start time, with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.
