JCCHS defeats Mountain View

The Jackson County tennis teams played host last Thursday to Hart County. Despite some close matches, both teams lost, with the boys being swept 5-0, along with the girls losing 5-0.

“There were some close matches … but we just came up with the short end of the stick,” said coach Tammi Gowen.

On Monday, both teams faced off against Elbert County in the rain. Unfortunately, the rain did little to help Jackson County, as both teams fell 4-0.

For the boys, Lex Mosley lost in the third set match at first singles 4-6. Franco Paredes lost in two sets. Chris Thoa played eight game pro and lost 5-8.

For the girls, first and second singles lost. The number one doubles team lost, while the second doubles team had to forfeit.

Tuesday, Jackson County traveled to Lawrenceville to face Mountain View.

It turned out to be a good trip, as the boys won 5-0.

Lex Mosley won at number one singles in sets of 6-2, 6-0. Franco Peredes won at number two singles 6-2, 6-0. Chris Thao won at number three singles 0-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Alec Housholder and Nick Buran won at number one doubles 6-3, 6-2. Joel Oriaon and Matt Compton won at number two doubles 6-2, 6-3.

The girls, meanwhile, lost 3-2. Eric Gentry won at number on singles 6-1, 6-3. Rachel Glenfield won at number three singles 6-3, 6-3.

Up next, Jackson County travels to Covington to face off against Eastside on Thursday.
