Panthers win over Stephens County

After last week’s matches were washed out, the Jackson County golf teams were looking for good things when they returned to action this week.

On Monday, Jackson County played host to Stephens County, winning 193 to 196. The Panthers were led by Jared Scott, who shot a 45.

The win left the Panthers 3-0 on the season.

“I am very excited about our program,” said coach Warren Standridge. “We have eight ninth graders in our program and they are already contributing on our varsity. We are led by three seniors and a sophomore and they are really working with our young kids to improve our golf team.”

Results from the girls match were unavailable at press time.

Up next were matches on Tuesday with Dawson County and Hart County. Both are number one in their regions.

For the boys, Jackson County came up on the short end of the score, scoring 180 to trail Hart County’s 156 and Dawson County’s 167.
