Tigers Still Searching For First Win

Commerce rematched Franklin County Tuesday night in Carnesville. Results were unavailable at press time.

Up next for Commerce is the first region game of the season as the Tigers host Prince Avenue on Friday.

The Wolverines are also struggling, with a 1-3 record leading into Tuesday night’s game with Athens Christian.

The first region game starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Field.

Saturday, Commerce heads to Oglethorpe University to face class AAA St. Pius at 5:00 p.m.

Jefferson
Last Saturday, Tiger pitcher Carl Allen gave it his all as he fanned 10 hitters during the first five innings, giving up only one earned run, but still taking the loss.

Jefferson wasn’t resting on their laurels either as the Dragons’ Jake Fields struck out nine Commerce batters after five.

Two Commerce errors opened up scoring and after five innings, Jefferson led 3-0. Another run in the bottom of the sixth and the scoring was over as Jefferson put Commerce away 4-0.

“The score should have been 0-0 going into the seventh, but it was not with the two errors we made,” said Cotrell. “The difference in the game was when they put it in play late we didn't handle the ball in key situations and they did.”

Lumpkin County
Lack of control by Tiger pitchers put Commerce into another hole it couldn’t climb out as the Tigers fell 14-2 to Lumpkin County in a game run-ruled in the fifth.

Colton Davis took the loss on the mound while Ethan Thomas put Commerce on the board in the fifth with a two run homer.
