After leading for most of the game, the Jefferson Dragons worked hard in the final seconds to hold off a late charge by Westminster to pick up a 58-56 win Wednesday night, and advance into the Elite Eight in AA state playoffs.
After a tight first quarter, the Dragons took firm control of the game in the following 16 minutes. A late surge from Westminster, who scored 26 points in the fourth quarter to challenge. But in the end, Jefferson withstood the charge for the win.

Darius Minor led the Dragons in scoring on the night with 20 points, while J.J. Damons scored 18.
The Dragons now advance to the AA state tournament quarterfinals on Friday, when they'll face Callaway, the number one seed from region 5-AA, at Dalton.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
