Boys defeat Dawson

Banks County’s tennis season began Monday as the Leopards hosted Dawson County.

The boys played a pro-eight scoring and won over Dawson 3-2. Trey Martin as the number one singles won 8-5.

Number three singles’ freshman Jack Schaeffer won 8-6 in his first high school match.

Number two singles Viet Pham made the transition from doubles play and was edged out in a tie-breaker.

Number one doubles Alex Banks and Chase Minish fell tot he Dawson doubles, but Banks’ number two team of Tyler Poole and Tony Yang won their match and the meet for Banks in an 8-6 victory.

The Lady Leopards results were unavailable at press time.

Up next for Banks County is the first region match taking on East Jackson on the road. The teams will face the Eagles on Thursday at 4 p.m.
