The Jackson County Panthers are looking to end their regular season on a winning note this week after dropping games to Elbert and Oconee County last week.
The Panthers will travel to Franklin County Friday night to face the Lions. Franklin came away with a victory in the last meeting of the two teams, 43-30, back on Jan. 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
Jackson County will play host to the 4-5 crossover games that will open up region tournament play on Monday. The Panthers are expected to face their first playoff opponent that night.

Elbert County
Coming off of a victory against Stephens County the previous week, the Panthers were looking to add to their win total when they traveled to Elbert County last Tuesday.
The Blue Devils took an early advantage, outscoring Jackson County by five points to take a 17-12 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Panthers would close that down to a three-point lead in the second quarter, as Elbert County carried a 27-24 lead into the half.
The Blue Devils pulled out to a sizeable advantage over the course of the first eight minutes of the second half. While holding the Panthers to 12 points, Elbert County scored 31 points to make it a 58-36 game at the end of the third quarter. The Blue Devils continued to control the game in the fourth quarter, adding 23 more points to their total while limiting Jackson County to six points to take the 81-42 victory.
Nick Oney led Jackson County in scoring with nine points. Joseph Smith scored eight points. Alex Crawford and Tyler Lee scored five points each.
Oconee County
The Panthers traveled to Oconee County Friday night looking to rebound from Tuesday’s loss.
Things got off to a strong start, with both teams seeming to be pretty equally matched. By the end of the first quarter, the Warriors held a slim one-point lead, 11-10. It was a similar situation in the second quarter, with both teams looking for an advantage. Oconee County came away slightly better, carrying a 24-20 lead into halftime.
The Warriors broke out in the second half, holding the Panthers to just 10 points while they scored 21, giving Oconee County a 45-30 lead at the end of the quarter. The Panthers tried to rally back, scoring 12 more points in the fourth, but the Warriors still controlled the court, adding 21 more points to their total to take the win, 66-52.
Joseph Smith led the Panthers in scoring against Oconee with 16 points. Juice Harrison and Jarvis Shaw scored seven each.
