Mat Panthers send 10 to state sectional tournament

Ryan Howe recorded the second area title of his career in the 189 lb. category. For the other three, it was the first title of their careers.

Izzy Carillo-Garcia took first in the 140 lb. class. Jamari Davis was the champion in the 160 lb. category. Charles Smothers took top honors in the 171 lb. category.

In all, Jackson County took 13 wrestlers to the tournament, and all of them placed in the top six.

Ryan Shekey placed second in the 125 lb. category. Austin McDonald placed second in the 215 lb. class. Zach Moore took third in the 103 lb. class. Justin Brewer placed third in the 130 lb. class. Tre’ Horton took fourth in the 135 lb. category. Daivon Ledford placed fourth in the 152 lb. class.

Wrestlers had to place fourth or better to move on to sectionals.

Cody Atkins took fifth in the 285 lb. class. Conner Anderson placed sixth in the 112 lb. category. D.J. Ledford placed sixth in the 119 lb. class.
