EJCHS Lady Eagles Defeat Banks County

The Eagles found themselves behind early, as they scored only three points in the first quarter while Banks County put up a dozen, but they rebounded in the second quarter to cut the lead to 23-22 at the half.

East Jackson stayed within three points of the Lady Leopards as Banks County held a slim 36-33 advantage after three periods, then took a late lead in the final quarter to come away with a 47-46 victory.

Callie Moore led the offense with 22 points and had six steals and four rebounds. Caroline Hicks scored seven points and pulled down nine rebounds while Shelby Johnson scored six points. Abby Adams added five points, had two steals and five rebounds, Taylor Patrick scored four points and Mikki McGinnis had four rebounds.

“I am very proud of our performance and the way we stuck around to make some big shots at the end that sealed the win,” said coach Amy Larimer. “We needed this win.”

The victory moved East Jackson to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in the region.

Games against Dawson County and Oconee County Friday and Saturday were called off because of the weather. The Dawson County game will be made up next week, while the North Oconee game will not be rescheduled.

East Jackson was scheduled to host North Oconee on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
