The East Jackson Lady Eagles earned their first region victory of the season, beating Oglethorpe County 71-23.
They ended the week with losses to Jefferson and Fannin County.
The Lady Eagles will host Dawson County in a non-region matchup on Friday at 6 p.m.
Oglethorpe
East Jackson hosted the Lady Patriots last Tuesday.
Things started well, as they moved out to a 22-7 advantage by the end of the first quarter. They would go on to hold the Lady Patriots to only two points in the second quarter while adding another 23 to carry a 45-9 lead into the half.
It was more of the same in the second half, as East Jackson gave up only six points in the third quarter, while they ran the score up to 57-15. East Jackson coasted to a 71-23 victory.
Jefferson
From the start, the Lady Eagles showed that they intended to give the Lady Dragons of Jefferson a run for their money Friday night.
By the end of the first quarter, the score was tied 9-9, and by the half, Jefferson held a slim three-point lead, 24-21.
Jefferson began to pull away in the third quarter, holding East Jackson to nine points while adding 17 to make it 41-30 at the end of the quarter.
But the Lady Eagles rallied, and, with 17 seconds remaining on the clock, took a 51-49 lead. A successful foul shot just seconds later gave East Jackson a 52-49 advantage.
The Lady Dragons weren’t through, however, and made a last-second three-pointer that went in as the buzzer sounded, tying the game at 52 and sending it into overtime.
