The Commerce High School wrestling team’s hopes of a top finish at the State Duals last weekend were dashed as Commerce lost the match for fourth place with Bowden, settling for fifth place.
Commerce beat its first-round opponent, Turner County, 49-21, advancing to the second round against the eventual runner-up Gordon Lee. Gordon Lee knocked Commerce into the consolation bracket, 55-16.
In the third match, the Tigers fell in a tough loss to Bowden, 32-31. Bowden advanced to face Wesleyan in the match for third, and Wesleyan won 51-12. Bremen defeated Gordon Lee 44-27 to win the tournament.
