BCHS boys face North Oconee Friday

Coach Mike Ruth said in an interview before the game that he told the players to expect a stronger team than the one Banks faced in December. During the Dec. 21, game Banks picked up its first win of the season, 72-50 over the Patriots.

The Leopards are scheduled to face Oglethorpe once more during the season on Feb. 2.

This weekend, Banks piles on the bus, making stops at North Oconee and at Stephens County. Friday, the Leopards square off against sub-region opponent North Oconee.

Ruth said that the team will need to transition well on both sides of the court and extend the game to full court to prevent North Oconee from pressuring the shorter Leopard team into a half-court pattern.

Tip-off follows the girl’s game at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Banks heads to Stephens County to face the Indians. The boys play after the Lady Leopards at 6 p.m.

Next Tuesday, the Banks County boys go to Gainesville to play Riverside Military in a boy’s only game. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. at Riverside.

With only 10 region games left in the season, coach Ruth is confident that after this week, there is not a team that Banks County “can’t play with.” The Leopards will focus on some outside shots as well as relying on the post players.
