Tigers Win Area, Sights Set On Weekend At State Duals

A “total team effort” pushed the Commerce mat Tigers through the Area Duals last weekend.

Commerce brought home first place after being seeded second in the duals and taking a first-round bye.

In the quarterfinals, the Tigers thrashed Holy Innocents 75-4 to advance to the semifinals.

Commerce faced Athens Christian in the semis and came out on top 54-15 before facing the number-one-seeded Wesleyan Wolves for the championship.

Wesleyan offered a bigger challenge than the previous teams, but Commerce was up to the challenge, winning 40-22.

“I am very proud of the guys,” said coach Kendall Love.
