The Banks County High School Lady Leopards softball team has spent the summer preparing for the upcoming fall season playing games with rival counties and working out on the field.

Newly appointed head coach, Tony Bowen was very impressed with the level of talent during the summer season.

"The upcoming freshman class has shown that they are dedicated and excited to be part of the softball program," said Head Coach Tony Bowen. “Returning sophomores and juniors consistently prove to be a strong core to the team through their hard work ethic and commitment to the program.”

Returning players, especially the upper classman, have also showed they have been working hard during their travel ball seasons. With seven seniors on the team, strength in experience on the field will be a huge asset. The pitching has shown tremendous growth from last season and with the addition of new upcoming pitchers, the program will also have an advantage.

Joining Coach Bowen is a new coaching staff, Steve Shedd and Kayla Grier. Kelby Cronic is also returning as his role as an assistant.

Finishing up the summer season with 8-2 record, Coach Bowen believes that the Lady Leopards softball team has depth in hitting, especially with three back to back homeruns hit during the summer season. The fall season begins with the first day of practice August 1, Coach Bowen and his staff are expecting a promising season.
