Training for offensive linemen held
The Banks County Leopards participated in a special offensive line camp at St. Pius Catholic High School in Atlanta this past Saturday. BCHS joined around 10 other schools from the Metro Atlanta and North Georgia area and participated in drills to improve their run and pass blocking skills, as well as participating in a obstacle course and a drive blocking competition.
"This camp is extremely important to the development of our offensive linemen during the summer,” Coach Phillip Jones said. “Our kids were coached by some of the best offensive line coaches in the state of Georgia. We feel that our kids learned many techniques and skills that will make them a better player in the coming 2012 football season."
The morning session was divided into eight groups and rotated among four stations on each side of the field. Each station dealt with an aspect of the game that most players need help in order to build skills for the game. It is about doing the same things over and over exactly the same way over and over.
The Leopards also got an up close look at the Buford Wolves offensive line. BCHS will compete in the AAA Classification this upcoming season and will face the Wolves in the regular season.

Summer work: Leopards begins training for football season
The Leopards began to roar this past week as summer workouts began. Players get a weight room training session starting early in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week during the summer months.
Then, they headed down to the field house to do circuit training and speed and agility routines. Goals for the defense this season are to use speed, aggressiveness, and deception to take every offense the Leopards face out of their rhythm.
“Our expectation is to be a playoff team every year," said Coach Phillip Jones. “The team will continue to prepare throughout the summer with these workouts and will attend numerous camps at other high schools and colleges.”
