Mat Bulldoggs compete at area duals

WBHS defeated Salem at area before falling to No. 1 seed and eventual champion Loganville.

“I thought we might be able to wrestle them a little closer,” Horne said.

The Bulldoggs then fell to Madison County by seven points although WBHS was giving up points before the match start with two forfeits.

“We weren’t at full strength,” Horne said. “Two of our wrestlers weren’t there for whatever reason and we had one who was not eligible.”

Ryan Conner also suffered a dislocated elbow.

Eric Sheppard was 2-0 with two pins at area while Josh Carter was 3-0 with three pins. Will Whisenant was also 3-0 while Jake Bergen was 2-1 with two pins. Brandon Montgomery was 2-1 with one win by pin.

The Mat Bulldoggs are off this week as the schedule had to be open for the state team duals. They are now working for the upcoming East Metro Duals at Jan. 22-23.
