It doesn’t get any easier for the Winder-Barrow High School football team.

After facing the defending 8-AAAA champion last Friday, the Bulldoggs venture to Habersham Central this week to try and slow down one of the most explosive players and explosive offenses in the region.

Winder-Barrow High School competition cheerleading coach Jerrie Hulsey saw plenty of improvement from her squad Saturday.

As a result, the Cheer Doggs won first place at a competition hosted by Commerce High School. WBHS also was awarded the grand champion honor, presented to the team with the day’s top score.

“The routine was much improved this week,” Hulsey said. “It was a lot cleaner, but we still have room for improvement. The tumbling was very clean. We still weren’t as clean as I would like in the partner stunts and we had a little bobble at the very end of the routine in the pyramid. I was pleased with our jumps in this meet.” [Full Story »] 

Region 8-AAAA is not an easy football road to travel.

The Winder-Barrow High School Bulldoggs will look for their first win of 2011 this Friday, but it won’t be easy. Defending region champion Clarke Central will visit W. Clair Harris Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

“Their program is at the level where you want to be,” said WBHS coach David Wagner. “They are a perennial playoff team. They are always a region contender. They are a team who plays home playoff games. They are simply solid from top to bottom.” [Full Story »] 

A perfect day for a cross country meet produced an almost perfect performance for the Winder-Barrow High School program.

The Lady Bulldoggs took first at Saturday’s Mercer University RunFit Sports Invitational as all five runners were in the top 20, with four in the top 10. The WBHS boys were second with each team member excelling on the course.

“It was a fantastic run,” said coach Michael Lofton. “Everything fell into place. We had great weather. You couldn’t ask for a better morning to run.”

Amanda Cope took first for the WBHS girls with an impressive time of 19:29. Caitlin Connell was third in 19:58. Whitley Kennedy (fourth) and Anna Dean (sixth) were also in the top 10. [Full Story »] 

With the stinging overtime loss to Madison County still fresh on the minds of players and coaches at Winder-Barrow High School, the Bulldogg program will look to move forward.

WBHS has its open date this Friday and coach David Wagner said it comes at a good time, even with last week’s disappointing loss. [Full Story »] 

The Winder-Barrow High School cross country teams will get to put their best foot forward this weekend.

The top runners for the varsity Bulldoggs and Lady Doggs will compete at the Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational in Macon.
