Tuesday’s game against Buford gave the Winder-Barrow High School baseball team just what it needed, according to coach Brian Smith.
WBHS faced a quality non-region opponent and got to square off against one of the state’s top high school pitching prospects as well. Even after an 8-5 loss, Smith was not disappointed in his team.
“It was a good experience and we will learn from it,” the Diamond Dogg coach said. “He (Buford pitcher Josh Heddinger) lived up to his billing. However, I was happy with the way we went up there swinging aggressively. We hit it hard but right at people.”
Heddinger, a Georgia Tech commit, played in front of several scouts, who were at the contest.
