Eagles Host Elbert County

After a week that saw them fall to North Oconee and Jefferson, the East Jackson baseball Eagles were slated to face Jackson County on Tuesday in a game postponed from Monday due to rain.

Results were unavailable at press time.

The Eagles were scheduled to host Elbert County Wednesday afternoon at 5:30, weather permitting. [Full Story »] 

Tigers Host Riverside

The Commerce boys’ and girls’ tennis teams fell to Towns County, Lakeview and Athens Christian over the past week.

The tennis Tigers hope to end their regular season on a high note this week. They were slated to host Tallulah Falls on Tuesday in what would be the regular season finale for the girls’ team. Results of that match were unavailable at press time.

The boys are scheduled to wrap up their regular season on Thursday, hosting Riverside at 4 p.m. [Full Story »]

Raider netters to face Barrow squads

Now come the volleys with two Barrow County squads.

Madison County’s guys’ and girls’ squads are both 11-2 overall. They will soon face Apalachee and Winder-Barrow after returning from this week’s spring break.

On Monday, the girls will play at Apalachee High School, while the boys face the Wildcats at the YMCA courts. Matches are set for 4 p.m. [Full Story »] 

Jones named as coach

There was a new face this week around Banks County High School learning the layout of the campus and what he will be stepping into starting next month.

The new head coach for the Leopard football program, Philip Jones was on site getting the nickle tour of the facility this week. Jones will be starting at Banks County April 11.

Also on April 11, the All Sports Booster Club will be holding a Community Welcome Meet and Greet at 5:30 p.m. at the high school cafeteria with light refreshments. Community members, football players and parents are encouraged to attend to welcome the new coach. The Booster Club’s monthly meeting will follow the meeting.

Tigers Shut Out Redskins, Indians

The Commerce baseball Tigers continued their winning ways last week, shutting out both Social Circle and Tallulah Falls by a combined 22-0 score.

The wins leave the Tigers 7-2 in the region, trailing undefeated Hebron Academy at 8-0, and 8-2 overall.

Commerce returns to action today (Wednesday), as the Tigers travel to Monroe to face George Walton Academy. [Full Story »] 

Golf Eagles Top Banks Co.

Results were mixed last week for East Jackson’s golf teams, with the boys picking up a win over Banks County, while the girls lost to Banks County and both teams fell to Jefferson and Commerce.

Both teams will return to action on today (Wednesday) against Dawson County and Oglethorpe County at Double Oaks in their final home match of the season, weather permitting. [Full Story »]
