Wildcats see playoff hopes end at Loganville

It was a perfect night for football — if you are a native of the Northern part of the United States — but the end result was less than perfect for the Apalachee High School team Friday night in Loganville.

The Wildcats (6-4) saw their playoff hopes end for 2010 with a 35-10 loss to the Red Devils, who advance to the postseason with a 7-3 mark. LHS joins Region 8-AAAA champion Clarke Central (10-), Flowery Branch (9-1), Heritage (7-3) and LHS as the four teams from the region to advance. [Full Story »] 

Bulldoggs say goodbye to seniors

The Winder-Barrow High School Bulldoggs finished a long and trying season this past Friday as they fell to the Jaguars of Cedar Shoals High School 26-2 on senior night.

Preseason predictions didn’t have the Bulldoggs forecast to win many games this year after hiring a new head coach and having an overhaul in the coaching staff. [Full Story »]

5:25 p.m. It’s more than two hours before kickoff. The coolness of the November air can be felt by all those standing outside the Apalachee High School locker room.

Coaches and trainers talk about how cold it seems even though the sun is not down. Additional layers of clothing are being put on. There doesn’t seem to be a fake sense of macho in the group. Everyone seems to realize it’s going to be cold as the Wildcat team prepares to battle for the playoffs. [Full Story »]

JHS 49, East Hall 0: Jackson sparks Dragons on senior night

Jefferson senior Chris Jackson ran for 160 yards and two scores Friday and also caught a touchdown pass as the Dragons (6-4) ran past East Hall (3-7) on senior night at Memorial Stadium. [Full Story »] 

East Jackson Downed by Union Co., 35-6

It was a cold night on the football field, and a cold game for the East Jackson Eagles, as they closed out their season with a loss to Union County, 35-6.

Neither team could seem to find traction for most of the first quarter, with the ball staying primarily around mid-field for the first 11 and a half minutes of play.

The Panthers drew first blood, finally making their way into Eagle territory before breaking through to the East Jackson end zone to take a 7-0 lead with 36 seconds left in the first quarter. [Full Story »] 

Commerce Defeats Social Circle, 42-14

It was just the finish to the regular season the Tiger Nation was hoping for, as Commerce bested Social Circle 42-14.

The win means the Tigers will start the post season with a match up with the Blue Devils of Breman.

Breman closed their season with a loss to Trion, leaving them second in 6-A at 6-1, and 8-2 overall. [Full Story »]
