The summer is winding down for the Banks County Leopards.

The football team officially begins practice on Monday and this summer has been productive for the team, as the coaching staff and players worked their way through the Pride of Summer program and spent time at camp.

After a week of practice, the Banks County Lady Leopards softball team has already shown that the girls have a drive to win, picking up the first two summer league games last Thursday.

Despite the win, the Lady Leopards still have plenty of work ahead before the season begins in August.

"The girls are working hard and getting better," said head coach Dean Goodwin. Goodwin, who begins his second season as the coach for the team, measures success simply and succinctly - to win. [Full Story »] 

Banks County’s third annual Junior Leopard football camp is ahead July 27-29, running 6-9 p.m. each day.

The purpose of the camp is to introduce recreation players to the BCHS and BCMS level of expectation.

Working with the recreation department, high school and middle school, the program is keyed towards developing high caliber players for each level.

The Banks County varsity cheerleaders spent last week hard at work in the gym preparing for the coming sports seasons.

The varsity squad started the week learning new stunts with instructors from the National Cheerleading Association (NCA).

This year the BCHS Cheer Leopards brought the NCA instructors to the high school instead of attending the away camp.

“We were very pleased with the results. The squad made huge advancements on stunts and the NCA instructors worked with the coaches to create material for our specific needs,” said cheerleading coach Cadie Barron.

The instructors were able to spend more one-on-one time with the cheerleaders by coming to the high school than they would have at camp. [Full Story »]
