Teams from throughout the Southeast United States will invade Jackson County for the 2010 Dizzy Dean 13-year-old Baseball World Series Thursday-Tuesday, July 15-20.

The tournament – organized and presented by the Jackson County Parks And Recreation Department - will be held at Lamar Murphy Park. [Full Story »]

Spring drills are now complete and the anticipation to the 2010 football season in Barrow County is less than three months away.

For Apalachee High School coach Shane Davis and Winder-Barrow High School coach David Wagner, the coming weeks will also be important as fall practice approaches. After six seasons directing the Winder-Barrow High School fastpitch softball program, LeAnne Mitchell is stepping down to pursue other interests and because of family commitments.

Mitchell told the Barrow Journal she has been looking for a job as an assistant principal for the past three years and has interviewed for two positions for the upcoming school year. [Full Story »]
