The Banks County recreation Department and assistant high school coach Jerry Loftice held a summer basketball camp for boys aged six through fifteen last week.

According to Loftice, the camp worked with three levels of players from beginners to experienced and focused on ball handling and footwork as well as other fundamentals of the game.

An estimated 20 players attended the camp, which organizers said was a good turnout and that they were pleased to have as many levels of players to work with.

Banks County girl’s basketball team have a full month and summer ahead.

The summer kicked off with the Little Lady Leopard’s camp. The camp, for rising third through sixth graders, intended to build individual and team fundamentals in the girls.

Banks County’s gridiron Leopards have just started the Pride of Summer workouts this week.

The boys are on the practice field training from 8 a.m. until noon and spending time weight training in anticipation for the coming football season.

On Wednesday morning, the Leopards’ linemen were spending time preparing for approaching Lineman Challenge next Saturday, June 19, at Gilmer County. Banks has had a strong record at the challenge and look to hold onto their tug-of-war title. [Full Story »] 

Banks County’s diamond Leopards continue their summer training this week as the boys prepare to play the summer series with their first games next week against Commerce and Franklin.

The Leopards will play their first game of the summer on Tuesday as Banks takes on Commerce in a doubleheader at Commerce. Game one starts ate 5:30 p.m.

Next Wednesday, June 16, Banks County heads to Franklin County to a 9 inning game against the Lions.

The Mat Leopards are going strong in summer practice.

On Tuesday, June 8, grapplers from both the Banks middle and high school programs were on the mats in the Leopards’ Den gym.

The exhibition against grapplers from Habersham and Stephens County, the Leopards were warming up for a full month of activity. [Full Story »]
