Bulldoggs set to be factor in region race

Like most coaches, the WBHS mentor does see areas where improvements need to be made.

“We do need to be more consistent on the defensive end,” Sokol said. “It’s something we have been working on.”

Going into this week, the Bulldoggs had not seen action since the Deep South Classic at Brookwood High School in late December. Scheduled games last week against Apalachee and Monroe Area were not played because of weather conditions. The WBHS team was scheduled to return to the court Tuesday against Madison County on the road. The team will return home for a Friday contest against Clarke Central.

While the fast start record-wise has been nice, Sokol knows the games during the second half of the season are the truly important ones.

“We have our subregion schedule left and that’s where it really counts,” the coach said. “Those are the games that will put you in good position for the region tournament.”

Sokol said he hopes his team can have an impact in subregion play, noting the more wins it compiles, the better chance it will have of advancing from region.
