Heritage High School: Conyers, Georgia has an immediate opening for a defensive line coach and special education teacher. Up and coming program, with players who work their tails off to get better. We have the pieces in place to be good, just need some more good coaches. Preferable experience of playing college football and or coaching in college.

Wildcats rebound to record win Saturday

An 11-point win Saturday helped the Apalachee High School boys basketball team even their season record at 2-2.

Coach Kevin Morris’ squad took a 68-57 victory against Salem as Chaun Gresham poured in 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. John Ansley added 13 points and six assists.

Lady Dragons prepare for Commerce Friday

The Jefferson Lady Dragons basketball team is continuing to search for traction early in the season, but so far, they’ve not found it, as they remain winless so far this season.

Jefferson is hoping to turn things around this Friday, however, as they face archrival Commerce. Jefferson has been victorious in every meeting since 2005, winning their last pairing in January of last year 53-39.

But right now, Commerce has two things that Jefferson doesn’t – a win in this young season, and momentum off of a win last week over Tallulah Falls.

EJ Boys win over Stephens County

Last week was a good one for the Eagles of East Jackson, as they picked up their first win of the regular season, defeating Stephens County on Tuesday, before just missing a squeaker in overtime against Oconee County on Friday night.

Up next is a home stand on Friday against Washington-Wilkes. On paper, the Eagles have the clear advantage, with the Tigers still looking for their first win of the year, and having scored only 142 points in their first two games of the season.

It’s been a good start to the season for the Mat Eagles of East Jackson.

First, they placed second to Dacula in the Westside Rumble Tournament on Nov. 21, scoring 185.5 points to Dacula’s 220. [Full Story »] 

Panthers host Morgan Co. Friday

It was an up and down week for the Panthers of Jackson County, as Jackson County lost first to Johnson on Tuesday, then in a close game to Banks County on Saturday.

Up next is a home stand against Morgan County for region play on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

The Panthers started off the week last Tuesday with an 80-40 loss to Johnson. [Full Story »] 

Dragons defeat Hart Co. in squeaker

It was a strong showing for the Jefferson Dragons last Friday, as they came from behind with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock to take the win over a strong Hart County team.

Now the Dragons look ahead to this Friday, when they will play host archrival Commerce.

The Tigers are looking to break a long dry spell against the Dragons. In their last two meetings, Jefferson won 66-55 and 56-41, both in January of this year. [Full Story »] 

McCrary, Freeman named Athletes of the Week

Madison County High School basketball players Patrick McCrary and Kayla Freeman have been named Athletes of the week by the school’s athletic department for their performances during the week of Dec. 1-6.

McCrary scored 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Madison County’s 68-56 win over North Oconee Saturday night. McCrary tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds the night before in the Raiders’ 54-51 win over Monroe Area.

Freeman scored 15 points in the Lady Raiders’ win over North Oconee Saturday.
