The Commerce Tiger Sharks swim team is ready to get its summer season under way.

More than 60 swimmers have signed up for the 2008 season.

The Tiger Sharks will compete in several meets, including two they’ll host, the first on July 10, and the second on July 15.

Peach State Up For Sale - Racing To Continue As Scheduled

Track officials have confirmed that Peach State Speedway, the half-mile raceway outside of Jefferson, is up for sale.
An advertisement appeared last week in the Athens Banner-Herald listing the track and the 53 acres it sits on for $2.5 million.

Track promoter Vince Whitmire says, however, everything is business as usual.

Area weightlifters have a history of success and are looking to continue at the 2008 American Powerlifting Committee National Championships in Norfolk, Virginia, June 6 through June 8.

In April, some local lifters took state titles at the American Powerlifting Committee Georgia State Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships in Athens. [Full Story »]
