Davis, Wildcats honored for 2009 season

Wildcat head coach Shane Davis was also honored as the Region 8-AAAA Coach of the Year for 2009. AHS finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. All regular season games were region contests. The Wildcats would eventually advance to the third round of the state playoffs before finishing with a school best 12-1 record.

Also named to the first team were running back John Ansley (735 yards rushing, six touchdowns), offensive lineman Shaun Hill (53 pancake blocks, team rushed for 3,652 yards) and offensive lineman John Brown (42 pancake blocks).
Defensively, Christian Hoard was named first team All-Region on the defensive line with 65 tackles, including 10 for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

Reggie Battle was first team All-Region at linebacker with 105 tackles, 10 for loss, a forced fumble, one interception and five pass deflections.

Ansley was also the All-Purpose All-Region player.

Kicker Guy Hunt was the first team kicker going 3-of-5 on field goal attempting, including successfuly converting two field goals from 40 yards or longer. Hunt also had a 37.9 yard punting average and was 36-of-39 on point-after attempts.
