It was not the finish Banks was hoping for before Christmas break, but the Lady Leopards took seventh place in the Community Bank and Trust Holiday Classic this past weekend.
With a 1-2 record in the third annual tournament, the Lady Leopard’s overall record now stands 3-6 as the ladies take a short break.
Banks will be back on the court next Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Pickens County for the Pickens Holiday Tournament. The Lady Leopards face Walker on Tuesday at 3 p.m., then square off against Pickens on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 6 p.m.

Region play starts up in the new year on Jan. 5, as the Lady Leopards take on Fannin County.
Holiday Classic
This weekend at Piedmont College, the Banks County varsity ladies hung with some tough competition as they competed in the third annual Holiday Classic.
First up for the Lady Leopards was Hart County on Friday. Hart came away with the victory, 59-50.
Banks was off to a rough start being outscored throughout the first half and trailing 11-32. A rally in the third quarter, cut Hart’s lead as Banks added 20 points over Hart’s 13.
Entering the final period down, 31-45, the Lady Leopards outscored Hart again, but finished just 10 points shy of taking the lead.
Getting the Lady Leopards into a fighting position, Ashley Morris led the scoring with 19, followed by lead rebounder and second leading scorer Morgan Cox with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah O’Kelly scored eight points, while Deasha Beasley scored four. Katlin Parks and Terri Cregar put up three each.
Up next, the Lady Leopards faced Habersham Central’s Lady Raiders. The quad-A Habersham team won with a late game surge, 48-36.
The Lady Leopards had trouble finding the basket, only scoring 13 of an attempted 49 shots. Banks led the first quarter, 8-7, but went down 21-16 by the half. The Lady Leopards drew to within three points in the third period, but were outscored 18-9 in the final quarter.
Leading the scoring for Banks, Madison Franklin picked up 12 points just ahead of Beasley with 11. Parks scored six and Lindsey McDuffie, three. O’Kelly and McKenna Rylee added two points each.
In the final round for seventh place, the Lady Leopards found redemption as Banks went 47-14 over Oglethorpe.
Banks led 28-4 at the half. During the second half, the ladies held Oglethorpe to 10 points with adding another 19.
Franklin led the scoring with nine points, followed by Beasley with eight. Morris, Cregar, O’Kelly and Laura Rose Pickens each added six points. McDuffie put in four and Parks added two.
Deasha Beasley was named to the All Tournament team.
