Sokol's Bulldoggs race out to fast start

“We stumbled somewhat in the second quarter and got away from what got us that lead,” Sokol said.

WBHS still led 25-15 at halftime but continued to make some mistakes, the coach said, in the third quarter.

Southwest Atlanta was within three with less than two minutes to play before the Bulldoggs made some key free throws to secure the win.
Alonzo Nelson-Ododa finished with 19 to pace WBHS while D.J. Butler added 12.

“Our defense is not there consistently,” Sokol said. “We are working on it in practice, but we need to be more consistent with it. Over the break if we really work at it, we can make improvements. We will continue putting new things in as we go along.”

Sokol’s team also defeated Monroe Area 54-48 Friday behind 17 points from Trent Demeritte and 13 from Butler.

WBHS is finished with its schedule until the Dec. 28-30 Deep South Tournament at Brookwood High School.
