Commerce Prepares For Banks; Hebron

Two games into the basketball season and the Commerce Tigers are 1-1 after a lopsided win on Saturday.

The Tigers opened the 2009-10 basketball season on the road against Johnson, Dec. 1, with a 51-83 loss. Commerce redeemed itself somewhat over the weekend hosting Tallulah Falls for an 80-33 region win.

Up next is non-region rival Banks County on Friday followed by region opponent Hebron Christian on Saturday.

Commerce has a long-standing history with Banks County, but coach Chad Bridges is unsure what Banks will bring on to the court on Friday.

“I do not know what to expect from Banks,” said Bridges. “I will try and find some things out this week on them. We did not play them last year, so I am not sure what they will have.”

Friday’s game will be at Banks County, tip-off at 7 p.m. for the girls with the boys following.

On Saturday, Commerce hosts its second region opponent, Hebron Christian Academy. Currently, Hebron is 2-2 with a 62 point scoring average. The Tigers are averaging 65 points and have won the past four meetings with Hebron.

Saturday’s game will be at home with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off following the girl’s game at 6:00 p.m.
